Rough Magic is delighted to announce the first production by the company’s new Associate Director Tom Creed. Tom was invited to become Rough Magic’s first Associate Director in 2006 following his production of 4.48 Psychosis as part of Rough Magic’s SEEDS II Showcase at the Dublin Fringe Festival. His production of Dark Week (Playgroup) was nominated for The Judges Special Award at Irish Times Irish Theatre Awards 2005.
Dream of Autumn by the ground-breaking Norwegian writer Jon Fosse will open at The Cube in Project Arts Centre on November 24th for a limited run.
As dark Autumn closes in, a man and a woman meet in a graveyard and embark on a reckless affair. Nearby his parents await the burial of a loved-one. But has he not already abandoned his family? Has she not always been alone? And what responsibility do they really owe to the living?
Written by one of Europe’s leading playwrights, Jon Fosse’s lyrical and erotic drama explores the intimacy of human relationships, the need to communicate and the inability to truly connect. Suspended midway between realism and absurdism and always close to the poetic, his plays explore relations between people, or the absence of relations.
Rough Magic’s English language première of Dream of Autumn presents Irish audiences with a rare opportunity to savour the work of one of the leading voices in contemporary world theatre.
Dream of Autumn will be designed by the internationally acclaimed theatre and opera designer Conor Murphy, with lighting by Sinéad Mckenna and music and sound by Denis Clohessy. The cast of leading Irish actors includes Karen Ardiff, Kathy Kiera Clarke, Deirdre Donnelly, Frank Laverty and Des Nealon.Posted on: 16/10/2006
