Rough Magic's production of Elizabeth Kuti's new play, The Sugar Wife, will transfer to London's Soho theatre for four weeks in January 2006.
The production, which played to sold-out houses at Dublin's Project Arts Centre in April 2005, was described by the Sunday Tribune as ''[an] intelligent and affecting piece, which stays with you long, long after it has come to an end.''
The London run of the Sugar Wife will feature three of the original cast members (Barry Barnes, Robert Price and Susan salmon) and Cathy Belton will assume the role of Hannah Tewkley originally played by Niamh Linehan.
The invitation to perform at the Soho was facilitated by an Arts Council Come See Award and the London transfer has received generous support from the newly formed Culture Ireland.
